London expansion toward East – opportunities & challenges due to its geo-economical prime location as well as the route of tidal floods. However, Flood risks increase the uncertainty of local growth. As a regenerative urban system, flood event is considered as periodic resource production process. Tidal flow is able to be controlled as a periodic flood event on the Thames Gateway area by having community within a constructed flood catchment. Dynamic Tidal nature amplifies the sustainable community metabolism and enhance its eco-serviced lifestyle.

 

Technical study aims to explore the flood adaptive urban & architectural applications of beneficial tidal flood on Thames Gateway and assess its’ sustainable aspects as the regenerative community system. Researched data and floating community design prototype provide series of architectural design parameters and scales for the project.
